Firefighter/Paramedic Doug Roosevelt was recognized by Illinois Conservation Police today for his efforts in saving 3-year-old boy's life after he was found face down and unresponsive in Clinton Lake. Roosevelt was assisted by another off-duty EMT and performed CPR on the boy, who eventually coughed the water out of his lungs and regained consciousness.

NORMAL  – It is with deep regret and sadness that the Normal Fire Department announces the unexpected passing of Firefighter/Engineer Nick Whitfield on Tuesday, August 12, 2014. 

Firefighter Whitfield, a proud member of our Department, became a firefighter in November of 1995 and was assigned to Fire Station 2, Second Shift, as the Engineer of Engine 10.    Nick also was an active member of the Normal Fire Department Fire Investigation Team.
